Planting
Seeds of Strength
The League of Extraordinary Girl Scientists (LEGS) is a program launched by Blue Rock Station in collaboration with the Women's Peacepower Foundation. LEGS aims to foster self-esteem, real-world skill building, and resilience among school-aged girls by prioritizing hands-on learning and accessible STEM education that helps young people think critically about the world around them.

The Program Story

In 2007, Blue Rock Station launched a confidence-building club at Philo Junior High School in collaboration with the Women’s Peacepower Foundation. Many participants came from challenging home environments, often with parents who had experienced incarceration due to drug-related offenses. These circumstances contributed to poor academic performance and behavioral struggles, underscoring the urgent need for structured support. Created by Annie Warmke within the Franklin Local School District, the League of Extraordinary Girl Scientists has only grown.
